Bernie is a seasoned communications leader with more than 30 years of experience in corporate communications both in Canada and the United States. Bernie’s career spans a variety of settings, including agency, corporate, government and consulting. For the past 20 years he has specialized in employee communications and engagement, leadership outreach and digital workplace strategy.

Bernie was previously director of employee engagement and communications for the CPP Investment Board – one of the largest pension funds in the world. Prior to that, Bernie was founder and principal of Thinktwice Communications, a Denver-based communications consultancy. Earlier roles include vice president of internal communications for Iron Mountain – the global leader in information management services based in Boston – and managing the global internal communication function at Dell (now Dell Technologies) and leading strategic planning for the company’s award-winning social media team. During his agency days, Bernie worked with a range of leading organizations including Ford, Deutsche Bank, Boeing, Gerber/Novartis, Toyota, Nationwide, Molson Coors, Amazon, Visa and Sprint.

Bernie has a master’s degree in integrated marketing communications from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, an Advanced Management Program certifiate from Stanford University and a Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.

Bernie has passion and a drive for excellence that extends beyond his work. Personal achievements include completing over 70 marathons (including ultra-marathons), 50 triathlons and climbing trips to Mt. Everest, Kilimanjaro and Aconcagua.
